COVID-19 at the White House
President Donald Trump could be released Monday after being hospitalized for observation Friday following his COVID-19 diagnosis, his doctors said. Trump said on Twitter, early Friday, he and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus that has killed more than 200,000 Americans. News quickly spread that many others in his inner circle also contracted COVID-19. The list includes Trump’s former aide Kellyanne Conway, Trump advisor Hope Hicks, Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien, Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Republican Sens. Mike Lee, Ron Johnson and Thom Tillis.
Rihanna has savage fashion show
Rihanna held her second fashion show for her lingerie line, Savage X Fenty, on Amazon Prime Friday. The Bajan superstar released a men’s line modeled on the runway by Christian Combs, son of rapper Diddy Combs, and others. The show also featured Lizzo, Miguel, Bella Hadid, Erika Jayne, Normani, Willow Smith, Travis Scott, Roddy Rich, Bad Bunny, Ella Mai, Rosalía and more. Dancehall artist Spice released her clothing line Thursday. The line called Graci Noir features everyday looks for women and men.
Trinidad and Tobago Carnival canceled
Some people were in mourning this past week after Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Keith Rowley said next year’s carnival would no longer be held. The annual festival was supposed to be held in mid-February and limited to locals only. Rowley said Monday the cancellation would have adverse economic effects on the twin islands. Brazil also canceled its carnival this month, while Miami Carnival will take place virtually this week.
Jim Carey appears for presidential debate
Saturday Night Live took time out from its COVID-19 hiatus to make a parody of the first presidential election. The debate aired Tuesday and received criticism for being the worst presidential debate ever. The candidates talked over each other and many said the country’s issues were never discussed. Saturday’s SNL skit debuted Jim Carrey as Former Vice President Joe Biden. The vice presidential debate will be held 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Breonna Taylor grand jury recordings out
Kentucky released the grand jury recordings this past week in the Breonna Taylor case. Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron also confirmed he did not pursue homicide charges against the officers who allegedly shot Taylor while they executed a no-knock warrant at her home.
